New Book Award ? Practitioners Book Award - to Focus on Business Books
The Belvedere Press has decided to sponsor an award focused to an underserved segment of the multibillion dollar book market ? business books. The award, called the Practitioners Book Award, will be focused to books that provide immediate, take away value. The selection committee is drawn from senior level executives who know value in a book when they see it.
?We feel that the business book market is underinvested, and provides a good opportunity for growth.? says Robert Baer, manager for the Belvedere Press. ?If we can encourage not just more business books, but the right kind, we can significantly improve industry wide productivity.?
Baer said that the idea behind the Practitioners Book Awards will soon be proven out by their market success. ?The book award is similar to a judged competition at an art fair. If the book can make it through our selection committee with a thumbs up, it will provide value out there in the industry.?
The Practitioners Book Awards are getting a late start in the 2007 competition, but the award will be open for submittals through December 15. More information can be found at
