Making money with an online retail store can be achieved when we simplify our approach. Simplicity, consistency, and the ability to recognize it as a tool. This is not difficult unless we make it. How do we make it difficult? Let us take a look.

Think for a minute of those online retail store opportunities that allow us to make money at home. These companies put us in business and gave us all of the tools we need to make money for working at home. Support, process our orders, drop-ship to our customers, even our own business web site. We have all of the necessary to tools to make money if we simplify our promotional efforts and stay consistent.

Of course that analogy may be extreme, but the results are the same. Giving their online retail store an expiration date before it ever got started. Slap me stupid if I am wrong. An online retail store is meant to run by automation, and will, if we keep it simple and use it like a business. No matter the level of commitment we have chosen. Personally, I prefer simplicity with fresh air.

You think so? Enough with humor.

Second, promote your online retail store with business cards and/or flyers. This is a simple approach to promotion that cost very little in money and virtually zero time in work. A business card with a 40% to 60% off all merchandise is a one-way map to your store, and just as important, the incentive carries weight. This approach allows you to isolate your business from the internet rat race and find potential customers that are casual online shoppers. It also gives them the invitation to check you out at their convenience, when they need a resource.

This form of promotion can be done casually and done out of habit if you make it part of your daily routine. It does not require a sales person to casually pass a business card in public. Remember you have already prepped your store for big savings and the automation will do the rest. Stay consistent and always have your paper promotion handy for any situation. You may have passed around a few business cards today, but your online retail store visitor may be one that picked up your business card last week or last month. Always make sure that your promotion accurately reflects your online retail store prices. We don’t want any surprises.

Make this a long term habit. Business cards can be slipped into outgoing mail. Think about the outside of the envelope also. A flyer can be posted most anywhere as well as handed to anyone.
