Working online when running a home-based business needs time management. Monitoring web site traffic, incoming emails, and promotional efforts, can produce anticipation. As our business grows anticipation can produce anxiety and anxiety can lead to stress. I can’t stress enough ( no pun intended ) that a home-based business that requires internet interaction must have a structured approach. This is critical for long term sustainment when working online.
Without a structured schedule we as online workers of a home-based business find us without balance. Working online has to be viewed as an internet tool. Meaning we cannot let the internet dictate our life as a whole. Much like the tv with around the clock programing, the internet never sleeps. Working online we are at our best when we find time management for monitoring emails, web traffic, and our promotional resources.
Let me ask a few questions. Do you catch yourself checking emails on impulse? Did you let a small task slide while you get a quick traffic update? What about promotional resources that you checked just an hour ago? We all know that this is part of working online as a home-based business owner. This can also be an anxiety or impulse driven way to run our business.
We need to step back a moment and re-evaluate our approach. Back to a structured routine. Put our online business back in its place. This is how we are better equipped for success with long term consistency and management. We have to remember that we are in charge of our business, not the internet or the computer.
Working online we should realize that this is a long term business, of our choice. An online business that is functionally operating should not require a babysitter. Balance in our daily routine can be a much needed breath of fresh air. What we do away from our computer may be our best business investment when working online.
